Ashley Smith Warren ’07 feels fortunate to be working in her hometown.
Born and raised in Winchester, she has a great sense of pride in both the Winchester and Shenandoah communities.
I had a wonderful experience while attending SU. Many career opportunities presented themselves to me, and I am extremely grateful for all that SU has done for me”
She earned her Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Shenandoah, and is now employed at Winchester Orthopaedic Associates.
My most rewarding experiences in being a PA are providing care for those in need and being a source of support for patients during times of uncertainty. Knowing my patients have confidence and faith in me is very gratifying.”
Her interest in medicine began at age eight, when her sister was ill and suffered from a brain aneurysm. “She had such success due to her doctors and medical staff. That is what truly got me interested.” As she learned more about the physician assistant profession, she eventually decided it was for her.
Warren describes her time at Shenandoah as invaluable, and says the PA program gave her opportunities she could not have experienced elsewhere.
The faculty and staff go above and beyond what is asked of them each day. I had, and continue to have, so much support from the program. I was placed in clinical rotations that provided me the opportunity for multiple job offers upon graduation. I think that is more than any new graduate could ask.”
In addition to her Alumni Board of Directors responsibilities, Warren stays involved with SU via her work at Winchester Orthopaedic Associates, Warren sees SU athletes in the office and in the training room on a routine basis.
Warren is a member of the Virginia Academy of Physician Assistants Shenandoah Chapter. She lives in Winchester with her husband, Pete, and their children, Andrew and Tyler.
